The Story
A Community Building Its Future
Autovia is a transitional community (often the first step out of a batey - it's possible here for families to own land) in the Dominican Republic, served year-round by our Family Development Program (FDP) and supported by mission trips. We are privileged to partner with a local pastor whose vision is to share the HOPE of the gospel while meeting the physical needs of families. Bold Hope has come alongside this pastor, building a community center that will help better meet the needs of Autovia.
This community center will be a safe space for our FDP's educational initiatives, discipleship programming, community outreach, and vocational training. In addition, it will house Bold Hope administrative offices and be used for church classes/events. This all-purpose building will allow us to better engage with the Autovia community, point more people to Christ, and strengthen the family unit.
Progress Update
Side by Side, Building Together
Americans and Dominicans worked side-by-side to install the roof in February, and the perimeter fence will be finished shortly. Our staff has already been using the unfinished space with mission teams and kids in our FDP. It is exciting to see a vision on its way to realization and we look forward to seeing how God will use this building to bless the local church and community beyond what we've even imagined.
